Letting go of my Manic Pixie Dream Girl

Dear Alex,

For a long time, I really liked you. Very, very much. You were my Manic Pixie Dream Girl, and even though I knew that I wasn’t actually in love with you, only my version of you, it didn’t stop me from loving you.

It’s been four years, and still you inhabit a precious place in my memory.

But tonight, I’m letting go. Just I have in the many nights that came before.

And in the many nights that would come. Little by little, bit by bit, till one day all that remains is the faded remnants of the girl I once loved.
